Meet at Palangka Raya your hotel or at the airport for transfer to your boat in Palangka Raya harbour to start your journey. Cruise past the stilted and floating houses of the provincial capital and continue upstream along the forest lined river, passing villages. We stop at the village of Petuk Katimpun and walk along boardwalks to visit the small library foundation. The boat continues upstream to a beautiful black water lake system, where we take canoes at sunset. Later we find a quiet location for overnight. (L,D)

The boat moves up the Rungan River as you enjoy breakfast. On arrival to Palas Island, a pre-release island operated by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF), take a motorized canoe to observe the orangutans and later continue to the BOS Education Center where orangutans are awaiting release in socialization cages. Learn about the BOSF history and rehabilitation programs.

Return to the boat and enjoy a leisurely lunch on board while cruising to Sei Gohong village. The boat will continue upstream passing Kaja and Bangamat islands, Orangutan pre-release islands. Here we transfer to small canoes to have closer observation of the orangutans before heading for a refreshing swim in the black water lake, if river water level is sufficient.

Return to the boat for dinner and overnight in a quiet location. (B,L,D)

Enjoy your last breakfast on board as the boat cruises to Tangkiling. Leave the boat early for air-conditioned car transfer to Palangka Raya airport to pick up the flight to Pangkalan Bun. On arrival at Pangkalan Bun airport, a guide will pick you up and then transfer to the port of Kumai by car (approximately 30 minutes). Wow Borneo boats are renovated traditional klotoks, or wooden river boats, about 18m by 3m, with a comfortable upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by.

The boats have 3 air conditioned ensuite cabins below deck. Your cabin is fully equipped with sheets, towels and toiletries. Delicious Asian fusion meals are eaten around the dining table on deck. The boat crew includes the boatman, a cook, assistant cook, and English speaking guide.

Upon arrival in Kumai, the cruise starts by exploring exploring the nipah palm mangroves and wildlife along the Sekonyer River while lunch is prepared on the boat.

En route to the Tanjung Puting National Park, we stop first at Tanjung Harapan, a rehabilitation center for orangutans. After a short walk in the forest to the platforms, we witness feeding time at 15.00.

Later, in the peaceful late afternoon, we will slowly explore the quiet river  to observe the proboscis monkeys along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat.  Overnight on the boat. (B,L,D)

After breakfast, the klotok cruises up river for about 2 hours, spotting wildlife in the forested river sides. En route, we stop at Pesalat, the reforestation site, where you can plant a tree, for a small donation. Boarding the klotok again, we have lunch whilst proceeding along the side creek to access Camp Leakey. Here the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest. On arrival, we take an easy forest walk to see the original research station and historical display and to see feeding time at 14.00 pm. Overnight on board. (B,L,D).

Early morning, the boat cruises to Tanjung Tangguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans to see feeding time at 09.00am. After a short walk in the rainforest here, we return to the boat, which then cruises slowly downstream spotting wildlife as lunch is served. After lunch, we arrive in Kumai for transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport. ( B,L )
