The KM Sekonyer is 18 meters in length and 3 meters wide, using a traditional local klotok hull. It has 3 cabins, each one air conditioned and with an ensuite bathroom, with western style toilets. The upper viewing deck is completely open to the wonderful views, and is furnished with comfortable rattan furniture and a dinner table.

The boat has mosquito netting in all the cabins, and has waterproof blinds with clear inserts on deck for rainy periods.

The cabins are fitted with inner spring mattresses, reading lights, sheets, pillows, bedcovers, towels, and basic toiletries. The cabin windows have sliding shutters for privacy. Cameras and phones can be charged on board, and the viewing deck and all cabins have sockets.

We will be serving the same highly praised food as served on our boats in Palangka Raya and you will be accompanied by 5 crew as well as an English speaking guide, to make this trip in to the jungle memorable and comfortable.

Cruises depart Saturdays (3  day cruise) and Tuesdays (3 and 4 day cruises) from Kumai harbour at 10am. The nearest airport is in Pangkalan Bun.

This was one of the best trips we’ve ever been on. The boat is beautiful and one of the very few we saw that had air conditioning in the rooms (most had a mattress on the upper deck with mosquito nets – so worth it). The boat has 6 fans on the deck which is amazing for a breeze and to keep any bugs away at night (weren’t that many anyway). Rusty was our guide, SO amazing - relaxed, perfect energy, and extremely knowledgeable. He seemed to know exactly when to chat and when to let us just sit and enjoy the scenery and the animals. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. I wish I remembered the name of the chef as every meal was outstanding. Better than any restaurant we visited after the trip. We were lucky to see so many orangutans. Each day you’ll go to one feeding station. Either an afternoon (2 or 3pm) or morning. These lasts 2 hours. It’s an incredible experience to watch them come swinging from the trees to the stations where they will receive bananas, watermelon etc.. whatever the ranger brings that day. Couldn’t recommend this experience more. Should note that we were the only guests on the boat (got lucky). A few useful tips. 1. Don’t bother with hiking boots. We wore flip flops the entire time. Maybe sneakers for night walk if you want. 2. Bring binoculars for sure, there’s so much to see. 3. Bring deet. Bugs aren’t terrible but keeps them away, more at night. 4. If you want your own little area book the room at the back of the boat.

3 day trip on a boat to see orangutans in their natural habitat. We didn’t see any in the national forest only on orangutan island but the experience was once in a lifetime. We were the only 2 passengers on the boat so it was like a private cruise. Room was comfortable. Lots of relaxing time looking at proboscis monkeys hornbills and long tail macaques. Food was excellent. Crew on the boat were helpful. We did a few trips up smaller rivers in motorized canoes that were fun. Our guide Abi was very friendly and helpful. My daughter got heat exhaustion and the crew were very adaptable and changed the itinerary to help her get better. All in all a wonderful experience

This was a great trip. We saw orangutans and proboscis monkeys and lots of birds. The food was amazing! We were the only ones on the boat and they bumped us up to a nicer cabin. They were also able to modify the itinerary when I got sick for which I was immensely grateful!

What a fantastic experience in a stunning environment! We visited three camps over two days and had an amazing opportunity to see orangutans, some of which were only a few inches away from us. That was surreal! Our boat (Kumai) was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Our guide Faisal was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. His knowledge about the wildlife and orangutans was impressive. The rest of the crew were very helpful and friendly too. They looked after us really well! The food was delicious.

We were two families travelling with young children and we expected the orangutans, monkeys and other wildlife but were pleasantly surprised so many times by the ship, the crew and the jungle which made it more than an adventure.
