Day 1
PALANGKARAYA – TUMBANG MALAHOI
Pick up from airport and transfer direct to Tumbang Malahoi by car (approx 4 hours) . Simple lunch on the way. On arrival, a welcome ceremony will be performed before settling into your room at the longhouse and resting. Later join the family of the longhouse for dinner
Gather after dinner to talk with the elders about the history of this longhouse and everyday life here, the culture and traditions.

Day 2
JUNGLE WALK – MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
After breakfast, a local guide will take you trekking in the forest near the longhouse to see ironwood or rubber tree plantation area. See how to take latex from the trees and listen to the Dayak agricultural philosophy. After lunch together at the longhouse with the family, visit a Kaharingan (the Dayak traditional religion) temple. Enjoy the evening with musical performance and dance. Learn some stories behind some particular dances and play traditional music instruments

Day 3
T. MALAHOI - TANGKILING - HOTEL CHECK IN
After breakfast, we take an early morning stroll through the village to identify more of the carved ‘sandungs’ or second burial boxes sprinkled around the village. Finally, we pack the bags and say goodbye to the people of the longhouse. Travelling to Tangkiling (approx 3 hours road journey) to the Rungan Sari Resort Hotel or Swissbel Hotel in Palangka Raya, we check-in on arrival. Depending on timing

Day 4
ORANGUTANS ON PULAU KAJA - RAHAI’I PANGUN - TANJUNG PUSAKA
At 7.30 am we transfer you 10 minutes (or you can walk for an early morning bird watching experience) to the nearby village of Sei Gohong where we board local canoes to observe orangutans on the beautiful forested island of Pulau Kaja. The island is managed by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation or BOS. We will also visit the Foundation’s Education Centre if it is open. We now transfer to the Palangka Raya harbour where we board the Rahai’i Pangun to start the cruise downstream to Tanjung Pusaka village. In the evening, we will explore the main livelihood activities, including fishing, cattle raising, and a demonstration of Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art performance. Join the village school group as they practice and have a go yourself! After finishing this excursion, we return to the boat and stay overnight in the area.

Day 5
TUMBANG NUSA – PURUN or GREY SEDGE WEAVING & VILLAGE VISIT (BLD)
In the early morning, we will use motorised canoes to visit the extensive blackwater Lake Bagantung. This is a unique peatland swamp ecosystem where we have the opportunity to spot birds and other wildlife. Then, the boat continues the cruise downstream to Tumbang Nusa village. On arrival, we will have a walking tour in the village to see some of their traditional livelihoods. First the grey sedge or ‘purun’ weaving and handmade straw cooperative, made from rushes growing naturally in the canals and lakes. The boat will continue to cruise downstream, passing the large forested Selat and Badak Islands. It may be possible to spot orangutans here. The boat will stop and find a quiet place to tie up overnight.
Day 6
PILANG - RATTAN WEAVING (BLD)
Early morning, the boat continues downstream to the village of Pilang where we take a short walk in the forest area near the village to see the process of rubber tapping (Mamantat) and rattan harvesting (Manetes). Our village guide will also point out some local medicinal plants growing in the forest. We then have a walking tour in the village to see some of their traditional livelihoods. Watch the local ladies at their rattan weaving process and meet the villagers. Over a special tea and coffee, with traditional Dayak cakes such as apam and untuk-untuk, we will be entertained with a Kacapi (two stringed instrument) performance. Escaping the heat of the midday sun, we will return to the boat for lunch. The boat will cruise downstream to find a quiet mooring place for overnight.
Day 7
SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK –– DEPARTURE (BL)
We have an early breakfast before our very special visit to the Sebangau National Park. For this adventure, we transfer to canoes for a 1.5 hour journey along narrow canals into the heart of the park. We will visit the information centre established there and walk along boardwalks provided for visitors to more easily explore the area to catch sight of birds and perhaps wild orangutans. We will take a picnic with us. At approx 11 am we return by canoe to the Rahai’i Pangun for a cool drink and a late lunch. The boat moves upstream to Pilang village for transfer to the vehicle and return to the airport or your hotel. Check out at 3 pm.
